Maintenance Summary:
The purpose of this maintenance window is to introduce a new distribution switch to the network. Best practice and procedures will be employed throughout the maintenance.

Customer Impact:
There should be no noticeable customer impact during this maintenance window. However, we wanted everyone to be aware of the activity. There will be a number of network engineers on-site to ensure the process goes smoothly. Although the work will be relatively quick, we’ve scheduled an extended window in order to monitor the health of the network and new equipment.

Today sees the launch of our white-label nameservers, which are now active across our network. We’ve been testing this in the background with some of our newer clients and now it’s available for all customers! We launched this service to give resellers to use the option to use white-label nameservers or setup their own.

Since everybody here has been stuck at home and the number of tickets arriving in has been very low since yesterday I decided to spend some time looking into adding new backup systems to our servers. What we’ll be setting up and testing from today is a full disaster recovery plan. This means that nightly we will be pulling a large file with all accounts included, which will allow us quickly react should we fall victim to hard-drive failures.  We will also be starting daily MySQL backups.

This system will be trialed starting from today (December 2 2010)

Adam here again. This time I’m giving a little update on our customer incentive program we’re developing.

*We reward our customers based on loyalty.

How the system will work:
Initially it’ll only be available to shared hosting customers.
We plan on giving 10% off after the first year of hosting with us and an additional X% per year after, thus meaning the longer you stay with us, the cheaper it gets in the long run.

During 2011 we will be developing a points system, which will automatically add points to customers accounts at the end of every month. This will be based everything from spending habits to forum activity and more! These ‘points’ can be redeemed against purchases and other items when the system launches.

*does not come into effect until January 2011. All orders placed before then will be able to avail of this system.

It’s coming into December now and Christmas is fast approaching.. We’ve already launched our new look website, complete with our Christmas offer and even sent out the newsletter! (We’re very ahead of ourselves this year) We’ll have some very special one day offers during December also!

Community Forums.
We’ve got vBulliten installed on our server and we’re currently getting it ready for use when we decided to launch the Forum. Our staff also require training on how exactly certain features work, so it could be a month or so before it goes live.
